Dr. GG Jayasinghe is a seasoned researcher with 28 years of expertise in cinnamon cultivation. Having served as a research manager at the Matara National Cinnamon Research and Training Institute, affiliated with the Department of Export Agriculture, he recently retired. His career highlights encompass authoring over 65 national and international research papers and contributing to an international textbook on cinnamon cultivation. With active involvement in national and international training programs, Dr. Jayasinghe has successfully supervised both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
In his capacity as the Secretary of the Sri Lanka Association for Ceylon Cinnamon Geographical Indication (ACCPGI), Dr. Jayasinghe offers diverse consultancy services. These encompass comprehensive advice on cinnamon cultivation, adherence to Good Agricultural Practices, cinnamon processing under Good Manufacturing Practices, ensuring high-quality cinnamon production, developing value-added products, expertise in Protected Geographical Indication Cinnamon Production, and rehabilitation of lost cinnamon land. Leveraging his extensive experience, Dr. Jayasinghe provides tailored consulting services to enhance cinnamon cultivation practices.
Furthermore, Dr. Jayasinghe has participated in three international entomology trainings and completed leadership training in agriculture research management at the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand (2018). His active roles in representing and presenting at international meetings, serving on expert committees, coordinating training courses, and his commitment to skill development as a registered assessor for TVEC underscore his dedication. With commendable teaching experience, computer proficiency, and active involvement in various associations, Dr. Jayasinghe has consistently contributed to the growth and advancement of agriculture, making substantial impacts on the sector.
